Repurposing the Navajo Generating Station: A Renewable Energy Case Study
Repurposing the Navajo Generating Station: A Renewable Energy Case Study
Led a feasibility assessment for repurposing the Navajo Generating Station into a renewable energy hub by analyzing solar PV with battery storage, concentrated solar power, and wind energy options. Evaluated the site’s infrastructure, modeled energy outputs, and calculated levelized costs of electricity to compare alternatives. Synthesized technical, economic, and policy considerations, producing recommendations that identified PV-battery systems as the optimal path for cost, reliability, and grid value. Supported the proposal for a tribally governed community solar project that advances energy sovereignty, economic growth, and environmental justice for the Navajo Nation.
